Welcome to my April Blog.

March has been a busy month for us here at Harrogate Hospital Radio.

Firstly we launched our brand new app for you to download to your smartphone or tablet, so you, your friends and family can listen to us in or outside the hospital. Remember you, your family and friends can send a request direct to the studio anytime at all via the app. It is so easy to use.

One minute past midnight on January 1, it was announced by the HBA (Hospital Broadcasting Association) that Harrogate Hospital Radio had been nominated in five categories in this year’s awards shortlist.

On Friday, March 23, a group of members travelled to Windsor, Berkshire, to attend the HBA weekend and awards ceremony.

On Friday evening we went to an “audience with former Radio 1 presenter Mark Goodier. Mark gave a fascinating talk his broadcasting career and also spoke about two recent strokes he has had, and how amazed his doctor is by the speed in which he has made a full recovery.

Saturday evening was the award ceremony.

My congratulations to Ann Kilroy and Steve Pexton who picked up the Bronze Award in Best Multiple Presenters category, for their evening request show.

My congratulations also to those who were nominated and made either the top 10 or top five in the whole country.

A fabulous weekend was had by all.
