Opening times at Ripon Community Hospital’s Minor Injury Unit (MIU) are being extended for the upcoming UCI World Cycling Championships, giving the town’s patients longer access to treatment.
From 23-29 September, the MIU will operate from 8am-8pm, compared to its usual opening times of 8am-6pm, meaning patients can access its services for longer each day.
The MIU at Ripon Community Hospital provides an alternative to Accident and Emergency services, and treats patients with a wide range of minor injuries, including cuts, grazes, wounds, sprains, strains, broken bones and minor burns. Patients can visit the MIU without the need for an appointment.
Stephanie Davis, Minor Injury Unit Matron with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming the UCI World Cycling Championships to Ripon this month. Our Minor Injury Unit (MIU) at Ripon Community Hospital will be opening for longer, ensuring the town’s patients and visitors have extended access to healthcare during what will be a very busy period for the region.
“Accident and Emergency isn’t always the right choice. If you’re unsure about the best course of action or need guidance about where to go for treatment, please call 111 or visit www.111.nhs.uk.”
